About Gloria

Gloria was born with a degenerative eye disease that would eventually lead to severe vision loss. Determined to make the most of every opportunity, she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism, and a minor in Fiction Writing from The Ohio State University. She went on to earn a master’s in public health from Ohio State’s College of Medicine and pursued a successful career in healthcare management.

Along the way, Gloria found time for many spectacular adventures. She rode an elephant in Bali, stargazed from the summit of Hawaii’s Mauna Kea, went scuba diving with stingrays in the Turks and Caicos Islands, and cruised to historic and exotic destinations around the world.

Eventually, severe vision loss led to early retirement—but when one door closed, another opened, and Motley’s Adventure books were born. Today, Gloria lives in Naples, Florida, with her husband, Rick, and her guide dog, Motley.
